Jane Eyre

Masterpiece Theater aired a new production of Jane Eyre in the last two weeks and somehow my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Ellie has become a huge fan. I'm not joking. She saw a bit of it when Vicki was watching it and got really involved in it (we don't let her watch the scarier parts, obviously). We Tivo'd it and this morning she asked me, "Can I watch Jane Eyre?" My mother-in-law was watching it when she was home with Ellie the other day and Ellie was explaining to her how Jane and Rochester didn't get married.

I have no doubt that my mom, my sister and Vicki are planning a Pride-and-Prejudice-watching party (BBC production rather than Keira Knightly movie) so Ellie can watch Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy trade witticisms.

Seems like we're raising another little Anglophile. I just hope she'll like Monty Python and Fawlty Towers as much as the Masterpiece Theater-type stuff.
