I'm back at the office after a week and a half at home with Vicki and baby James Tristan. They're both doing very well, although Vicki is pretty exhausted. It's kinda nice to be back at work, but it's hard to be away from the baby.
The new baby has been home since Monday and he's doing very well. He's eating like crazy, which as you might expect, results in lots of lots of dirty diapers. He's sleeping pretty well, but Vicki and I are still exhausted. Ellie is a great big sister and has been very helpful.
We decided to name him James Tristan Ramsey. We knew we were going to name him "James" for my dad, who wanted us to continue the tradition -- the new baby is the fourth James Ramsey. The middle name is from the character in the book All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. It's a book I've loved since I was a kid and my favorite character in it was named "Tristan."
We're still trying to figure out exactly what we're going to call him on a day-to-day basis. My mom and sister call him "Jamie", Ellie calls him "Baby James", I've been calling him "Tris" or "Tristan", and Vicki's been calling him "Triscuit." I think we'll just figure it out as we go along.

Our new as-yet-unnamed son was born at 1:26 this morning.
We almost didn't make it to the hospital. Vicki woke me up at about 12:30am and said that her water broke. We bundled up Ellie and took her to my mom's house and then I drove like a wild man across town to the hospital. I was running red lights and stop signs like crazy.
Vicki's mom met us here at the hospital and thank god she did. Within minutes of getting Vicki into the bed the baby was out and Vicki's mom ended up delivering him. No joke! He came so fast that the doctors and nurses weren't ready for him. Luckily, her mom is a retired nurse with years of experience. I, on the other hand, was pretty much useless :)
Vicki and baby are both sleeping now. I'll post photos soon.

I took my busted iPhone to the Genius Bar on Friday and a truly wonderful Genius with many large piercings replaced it with a brand new one!
Thank you, Apple. You have restored this fanboy's faith ;)

Ellie asked what happened to my iPhone and after I told her, she said in a sad voice "Poor iPhone."
Movable Type 4 has been released and we were here late last night getting everything ready. I designed the new
movabletype.com website which looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. The interior pages still need some work, but the homepage turned out pretty nice. It's also got that nice, big web 2.0 footer and lots of rounded corners :)
In family news, Ellie is sick with a fever and cough -- poor thing -- and the new baby's due date is only a month away. We still aren't sure about the name.
